Empowering’ event focuses on women’s self-care, mindfulness

As our days are filled with more activities and responsibilities, it’s important to remind ourselves to take the time to focus on well-being. Community Healthcare System is offering a free retreat for women of the area to help them focus on self-care to support a balanced and healthy life.

The Empowering Women’s Retreat will give women to opportunity to participate in interactive sessions, gain valuable health tips from exhibitors and receive free health screenings. A free A1C and Lipid Profile will be offered which requires individuals to fast for 12 hours beforehand.

Attendees will have the option to choose from two breakout sessions which cover topics such as cultivating emotional health, pocketbook planning, self-care through self-defense and more. The event will also feature a keynote address by Lamia Katbi, MD, who will speak about prioritizing physical and mental health to manage stress. “Many people think self care is a luxury, but it is really essential,” Dr. Katbi stated. “How you eat, how you sleep, how you take care of your emotional and physical health is our human right, so self care is very important.”

Registration is required by April 12 and can be made by calling 219-703-2054. For more information about this retreat, visit COMHS.org/empowering.
