Big Crowd Braves Big Wind During Another Successful National Night Out

By all accounts, last evening’s National Night Out was a resounding success, with possibly the highest attendance in the event’s history. The community gathered in record numbers, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere that was felt by all who participated. Chicagoland got to see how Munster does things with coverage from FOX 32 and multiple mentions and live shots from WGNTV.

Little Munsterites had the chance to interact with Munster Police officers and Munster Firefighters as well as Batman, Paw Patrol and Rusty. Kids and adults could also visit the 140+ booths that were at the event. Some came for the games and prizes and others came for the community connection, but a good time was had by all.

Leading up to the event on August 6th, a series of engaging activities were held throughout the past week. These included a Police Volunteer Dinner on July 30th, Senior Safety Bingo on August 1st, a Canned Food Drive on August 2nd, a Car Seat Check on August 3rd, and nearly 20 block parties across the town on August 3rd. The block parties culminated in an awards ceremony during last night’s event, where Independence Park, Twin Creek, Holly Lane, Greenwood Avenue, and Hill & Vale were recognized with commemorative street signs for their outstanding celebrations.

Event organizer Officer James Ghrist was thankful for the great support from the town. “We appreciate the record participation from our attendees, volunteers, booth participants, and sponsors this year. Our National Night Out Celebration continues to be successful thanks to great support from our community.”

Officer Ghrist said that hotos from both the block parties and last night’s event will be posted throughout the coming week, capturing the joyous moments and community spirit that define this cherished annual celebration.
