Munsterites will have the opportunity to hang out, see some cool rides, visit many businesses and talk with local organizations on the Northwest side of town this weekend at the first Cruisin’ The Ridge Event on Saturday from 3-8pm.
Ridge Road is known as one of the oldest streets in Munster and the first business district in town. The event will give residents the opportunity to experience fun in an area that has retained much of it’s character since being developed in the 1930s. “We wanted to do an event to bring attention to the businesses along Ridge Road that many people may not be aware of,” Town Councilman Chuck Gardiner said. “This unique event also brings a level of excitement by combining music, food, vendors, and classic cars all in a great town wide event.”
Cruisin’ The Ridge has been in the works since the Spring and has had the support of many organizations in the town. “This took months of planning and coordinating with various departments in Munster,” said Anthony Christopher who is the owner of Top Tier Nutrition and one of the event planners. “Thank you to Munster Public Works, Munster Police, the Chamber of Commerce, Munster Church, Pam Dennis, owner of Fetching Market and the business owners on Ridge to make this whole thing possible.”
Two lanes of Ridge Road will be closed from Hohman to Harrison in order to accommodate the classic cars that will be parked along the street. Musical guests DJ Brian Cummings, Little Giant and Cloud 9 will provide the tunes while attendees treat themselves to food, treats and shopping.
